After reading numerous positive reviews on Mecenate Palace, we couldn't not go. As read, it perfectly reflects my experience in this hotel. Great value to the excellent location and costumer service. They also offer american breakfast served on "la terrazza dei papi, hotel the roof garden. Which i absolutely adore. In addition there is also Happy hour and Buffet, my friends and i had so much fun. Regarding the quality of food, its delicious as i spoke to the manager, he informed me that the chef is from Puglia with great experience in the culinary field. My room had a wonderful view, also very clean. Great service by the housekeepers At the front desk mr claudio and roberto are very helpful, they gave us information on the tours and hot spots to attend. Finally there is an icecream shopped owned by the hotel which makes the most amazing icecreams! I recommend you all. It will be worth it!

"At Home in Rome". Our experience at the Mecenate Palace was indeed a great one. The hotel staff was wonderful and took excellent care of us, and the restaurant staff was like family in the way they treated us. We could not have been more welcomed or batter treated anywhere. The location across from the St. Maria Majore Basilica was awesome, and the centrality to transportation, restaurants, and sightseeing was great. We most heartily recommend the Mecenate Palace Hotel and believe that you too will feel like you are being treated as a special guest in the home of Rome.

I have stayed in this hotel 3-4 times. There have never been any problems. This time there were 10 of us, including myself and my wife. Everything was fine and no grounds for complaint whatsoever (we even beat italy at the rugby game, which was the main reason for being in Rome). The hotel organised a pick-up at the airport which was good and we used the same service on departure. Our room was in the annexe. It was a bit small but very adequate and perfectly clean. Free wifi was a bonus. Breakfast was good in the roof-top restaurant and all staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful.

Once again the Staff of Mecenate Palace Hotel treated us like a member of the family. Their kindness and attention to our needs contributed greatly to a worry free stay. The outstanding breakfast has everything one could possibly want. I highly recommend this Fabulous Hotel to everyone coming to Rome.

I thoroughly enjoyed my week long stay at the Mecenate Palace Hotel. The staff were very courteous, efficient, accommodating, and promptly responded to all my requests. My bed was very comfortable, my room had everything I needed, and the towel warmer in the bathroom was particularly awesome! The restaurant on the roof terrace is a nice option and the service was very warm and friendly, particularly from Chef Francisco. The views of the city from the terrace, and of Santa Maria Maggiore in particular, were lovely. The location is perfect for traveling - the metro is a short walk down the block, the bus stop across the street has buses that go to many of the major tourist sites in about 15minutes (#71, #360 or #649 either go there directly or connect to buses that do), and the Termini station is about 4-5 blocks away. I bought a week long bus and metro pass from a tabaccoria, which was perfect as I both methods of transport often, and I bought my TrenItalia tickets online for a day trip to Florence - super easy and hassle free. There are a number of small cafes and restaurants in the immediate area that offer a variety of coffee, sweets, sandwiches, pizzas, and tasty meals, up to at least 11 at night. There's even a neighborhood mercato on nearby via Meraluna. Lots of shopping, both on the street and in the store, for cheap gifts, clothing or accessories. Walking back to the hotel late at night or departing early morning was not a problem, even when there were not that many people out and about. The Mecenate is one of the nicest hotels around Santa Maria Maggiore and I would definitely stay again when I come back to Rome.

We have the suite room, with a sitting room and a fireplace, mini fridge, hallway with bathroom and then the bedroom with a king size bed. Lodgings are very nice and well maintained. This hotel was a good place to get because of its location, we were able to walk to all the biggest attractions (15-20 minute walk) and if we desired to take a taxi back and they did not know the name Mecente, we could say Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica and they knew that location (which is right across the street). The restaurant on the rooftop is amazing. First class food, presentation is a key factor we have noticed dining in Roma and this is one of the best. The minestrone soup is very hearty. We have also tried the ravioli, lamb chops, and lobster (very juicy but note, it's the whole lobster) linguine which were all very unique tasting and delicious. A appetizer we ordered was the beef carpaccio, which was raw slices of beef served with fresh tomatoes and grated cheese on top. The chef is also wonderful and caring about his guest, coming out to check on us and our food and also offering a few complimentary appetizers. A very wonderful place to add to our awesome experience in Roma, I highly recommend.

All the staff were professional and courteous. Max at the front desk was very helpful, and informative. All requests were dealt with expediently. Our room was well appointed, with outstanding attention to detail...bathrobes, heated towel rails, crisp linens. The restaurant was excellent and personal. The view from our window was amazing. Great location and value.

The Mecenate Palace is a beautiful hotel, close to many sights and just across from the Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore which is a must see. The roof top Garden restuarnat is has a beautiful view of the whole area and the food is good. We had a lovely dinner there one evening and enjoyed an after dinner drink overlooking the lit church across the way. Very romantic. The room was comfortable and the staff very nice and helpful. Everyone speaks English. The rooms overlooking the courtyard are quiet.

Have just returned from the lovely city of Rome. This hotel looked good on the internet, and did not disappoint. On checking in, we were led out of the hotel and down the street 20 yards to an attatched apartment block. Our initial uncertainty was removed on being taken to a very well appointed room. The street below was busy and had a freindly atmosphere enjoyed through our open windows. The facilities in our room met all our needs, and more. Breakfast is taken in the rooftop garden restaurant, where you can choose to dine in or out. The location of the hotel is excellent, with fairly short liesurely walks to the Coliseum, Forum and Palatine. The hotel bar was fairly expensive, but it is easy to find a reasonably priced bar or restaurant close by. We prebooked the Vatican tour, which included a 3 hour guided tour. Our tour guide was very knowedgeable, but personally I would have liked to have browsed at my own speed and take in the information written on the boards and guide book. It did, however save a long queue. We spent a lovely time in a lovely city with great friends. The hotel and city are both a first class choice for a break. We will hopefully return to both. Airports-shuttle.com was a good choice to get in and out of the city. For only 40 euros each way we were taken straight to the hotel for a similar cost to the rail option.

We stayed two nights and nearly three days here and the location turned out to be excellent - the main Rome train station (Roma Termini) was maybe a 10 min walk. The Colosseum was about 20 min by walking. A few hundred meters away was a bus stop for the hop-on / hop-off bus tours (although I recommend starting your bus tour from the train station). The hotel was very nice and we opted for a spacious triple room which had double sinks and a walk-in closet. The windows beautifully overlooked the Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica. Even though the hotel is located in a bustling area, it was very quiet at night as traffic subsided. The check-in process was very quick and the personnel were friendly. We ate breakfast and the view alone from the rooftop was worth it. The food and fresh juices were delicious and the service was attentive. In the evening we had drinks on the gorgeous rooftop lounge where the bartender was attentive as well.

I have just returned from this hotel having booked a twin room overlooking Santa Maria Maggiore. This is a fabulous hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel was exceptionally clean, there was a safe in the room at no extra cost which was great. The restaurant where you have your breakfast has wonderful views and the dinner was excellent. It is a wonderful location but do be aware that it takes about 15 minutes to walk into the centre of the city. Ok at the start of the day but a bit tiring after a day's sightseeing. Would I stay again - absolutely!
